Concussion Education Test
The data base has been cleared for this past school year. You may now do the one for the 2018-19 school year. https://www.fcps.edu/activities-enrichment/student-athletics/concussion-education Every year every athlete and one parent of every athlete must view a short on-line Powerpoint about concussions. See below for the link. Once there, you will find a link for parents to take it and a link for the athlete to take it. You do not need to print off a certificate. Your completion will go into a database that the Athletic Trainer will have access to. The Activities Office and the Athletic Trainer will use that database to confirm that the concussion program has successfully been completed by both the parent and the athlete. They will in turn relay this information to the coaches. If you have difficulty accessing the program, the County suggests trying a different web browser. In many cases, switching from Explorer to Mozilla or Safari fixes the issue.
School Insurance through K&K
Medical insurance is required for participation in out-of-season and in-season athletic conditioning, practices and contests. FCPS provides an opportunity to purchase accident insurance. It is highly recommended that parents consider using this as a secondary insurance for their student athlete. It is also recommended that the dental insurance option be purchased as most health insurance plans do not cover accidental dental injuries. Students without family medical insurance coverage may choose to purchase school accident insurance to comply with this requirement. K&K Insurance will provide school accident insurance for the 2017-18 school year. Again, High Option School Time coverage is recommended for all sports except football, and all out-of-season practice and conditioning. Football option is required for participation in Freshman, JV or Varsity football August 6 through the end of the season. School Accident Insurance may be purchased online (click on link below). If this is purchased as your PRIMARY insurance, please print a receipt page and provide that to your school as proof of coverage. http://www.kandkinsurance.com/sites/K12Voluntary/Pages/Home.aspx
